I believe that people are so used to hearing that women just stay indoors and housekeep while men go out to work and support their families but women are offended beause men receive all the credit since their out all day earning money. Women are also offended because they can do anything a male can do and maybe even better than them but can't show it because noone "cares".
I, as a female, take phrases like "She's a girl, she can't fix that pipe." (or something to that affect), seriously because we can do whatever a male does if we simply put our mind to it.
